About Our Kids

Information on children's mental health and parenting based on research in child psychiatry, psychology, and child development; sponsored by the New York University Child Study Center. The Parent Letter provides tips and advice on special topics relevant to teenagers and school-age children (e.g., test anxiety, bullying, divorce, homework, anger, obesity, etc.). Association of Parent Support Groups in Ontario (APSGO)

A volunteer organization with chapters throughout Ontario, providing weekly self-help meetings to support and assist parents of 'disruptive' youth. http://www.apsgo.ca/

Autism Ontario (formerly Autism Society Ontario)

The leading source of information and referral on autism and one of the largest collective voices representing the autism community. Members are connected through a volunteer network of Chapters throughout the Province of Ontario. http://www.autismontario.com/

Breakaway - Family and Youth Initiative

Provides free, confidential harm reduction and addiction treatment services, and has made support for parents a key part of its programming. Their goal is to reduce the harm from drug and alcohol use while helping the youth and family to develop better alternative coping skills. http://www.breakawayyouth.org/

Centre of Knowledge on Healthy Child Development - Information Pamphlets

The Centre produced a series of information pamphlets especially for parents. They are written in plain language and were created with the help of experts in the field. Concerned Parents of Toronto

Geneva Centre for Autism - Education and Training Options for Parents

The Centre offers parents many opportunities to participate in educational workshops. These groups are facilitated by behaviour communication consultants, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers and psychologists. http://www.autism.net/content/blogcategory/166/594/

Get Help Early (working together to overcome psychosis)

This website was developed by first-episode psychosis youth and parents with the help of dedicated family members who donated their talent, expertise and experience to create a partnership-based early psychosis resource. This website houses a wonderful art gallery featuring the works of young artists who have experienced first-episode psychosis.
