Position Description
Yorktown Child and Family Centre is an accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre dedicated to providing effective, accessible, quality mental health treatment, prevention and outreach services to children, youth and families in the former City of York and other west end priority neighbourhoods. YCFC is uniquely connected to its sister agency – Yorktown Shelter for Women – a shelter for women and their children who are fleeing an abusive relationship – under the umbrella of Yorktown Family Services. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director of Service is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to strengthen and support the practice of clinical and community professionals within diverse underserved high need communities. You will champion continued excellence in service delivery and be an advocate for clients and staff. You will foster the development of professional practice standards, promote educational activities and facilitate collaboration and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and direction to all service staff and programs
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, plans, develops, implements, oversees and evaluates existing, new or needed programming focused on outcomes
- Participates in budget preparation and management and monitors data related to utilization, quality, workload and staff and client safety
- Facilitates staff recruitment, hiring, placement, performance appraisal, attendance management, ongoing staff training and coaching and encourages overall staff excellence
- Promotes and maintains effective, collaborative partnerships and relationships, with funders, other community organizations and institutions
- As a key member of the Leadership Team, ensures the operational implementation, promotion and evaluation of the organizational strategic directions
- Provides leadership that supports quality improvements of programs and services, team building, creativity, sound professional judgment and commitment to excellence
Qualifications (e.g., skills, experience, degrees, certifications, etc.)
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
- 5-7 years of clinical experience in Children’s Mental Health or related sector, preferably in a unionized setting
- Extensive knowledge and experience with the issues impacting mental health needs of children, youth and families
- Clinical skills in treatment models that support competency-based, goal-focused practice with children, youth and families
- Excellent knowledge of ministry reporting requirement and applicable legislation
- Experience managing programs, monitoring targets and budgets
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
